Iowa Author Fest 2nd Annual Short Story Writing Contest

This year Iowa Author Fest will be sponsoring a short story writing contest for Iowa High School students. All entries will be placed in an anthology. Each contestant will receive a complimentary copy of the anthology. Copies will be made available to the contestants families for purchase. The story will be judged by six local Indie authors. Short stories will be judged on originality, grammar, and spelling. Cash prizes awarded will be 1st place: $100 2nd place: $75 and 3rd place: $50. Entries deadline is: November 25th, 2016

Rules:

  1. The short story is to have a cover letter with their parents and their contact information. The cover letter needs a picture of the child’s head shot and short bio of fifty words to be placed in next year’s catalog of the Fest. Only the child’s first name and last letter of their name will appear with their picture.
  2. The student is to write a short story of their choice in the length of 2500 words. Do Not place your name on the story. If your name appears on the story it will be disqualified. This way the judging will be fair as none of the judges will know who wrote the story.
  3. The story is to be double spaced, Times New Roman font, 12 point font size.
  4. Entries must be received no later than November 25th, 2016. Winners will be notified by CEO Larry Stumbo.

Mail the short story with cover letter to: Iowa Author Fest, 6120 Urbandale Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa, 50322.
