A poem by Mary Elizabeth Gilbert(Stumbo)

Summer Time

Sadie must come out in summer
When the summer’s sun will shine
Then we can have fun forever
When of snow there’ll be no sign.

What fun is there in winter time
When it is cold and snow is falling?
We have to then stay in the house
Where noisy child all are squalling.

Composed By
Mary Elizabeth Gilbert (Stumbo)

(The Sadie referred to in this poem is Sadie Patterson, schoolmate of Mary Elizabeth Gilbert and was a frequent visitor in the Heber Gilbert home.)
