Iowa Author Fest Essay Writing Contest
Open to all Des Moines High School Students tenth through the twelfth grade. The essay will be judged by six local Indie authors and a copy editor. The winners will be awarded their prize at the Iowa Author Fest September 26th, 2015 at Brenton Skating Plaza, Robert Ray Drive in downtown Des Moines at 1:00 pm. by organizer Larry Stumbo during the Iowa Author Fest. Essays will be judged on originality, grammar, and spelling.
Winners will be notified by September 1st, 2015. Prizes awarded will be 1st place: $100 2nd place: $75 and 3rd place: $50.
Rules:
1. Essay is to have a cover letter with their parents and their contact information. If they win, their parents will be contacted informing them of their child winning.
2. The student is to write an essay of their choice in the length of 2500 words maximum. DO NOT place your name on the essay. If your name is on essay, it will be disqualified. This way the judging will be fair as none of the judges will know who wrote the essay.
3. The essay is to be doubled spaced, Times New Roman font, 12 point font size.
4. Entries must be received no later than May 29th, 2015.
